Now I am in it. Inside the wind tunnel, with a month to go to finish the book. Today, a photo essay of my process.
I started with a list of “to dos,” much like I am packing for a trip to New York, and I make a list of all the things I have to take care of. Instead of “pack swimsuits for hotel pool” and “charge the Ring cameras” so we can spy on the cats — it’s things like write the worksheets, write the author’s note, fix the grammar and spelling.
Elizabeth Gilbert said in this interview that she has three good hours a day to write. When she first wakes up, her brain is the most fresh. No one gets those hours but her. I’m using that. Even though the book is due November 15, I am going to say that my deadline is October 31. So between now and then — I’d like like to devote my three good hours in the morning to the book. No one else will get that time.
I really want this book to have worksheets, where people can write in their answers. I love an interactive workbook. The problem is, I hadn’t designed ANY of them yet. Hahaha. Suddenly, I had a burst where I felt inspired to write them. They begin on a postcard (sketched out, messily), and then move to Canva, and then finally get pinned up on my giant corkboard.
