Sometimes when I over plan things, I get a panicky feeling. Like I’m stuck in a plan and I’m afraid I won’t have enough energy for the thing, or that I’ll get sick, or that I won’t be able to follow through. And then I’ve spent time and energy on the thing, and I’m stuck. And I hate feeling stuck. As a result, I avoid planning sometimes. I like a big, open expanse in front of me. But when it comes to living a big, full life — sometimes you do have to research and make things happen, especially when it comes to summer.
Summer is a time of intense heat during the days, crisp mornings, long drives, picnics, and visiting bodies of water. I’m so lucky to live in the Pacific Northwest, which has earned a reputation for being a super rainy place — but did you know that in the summers it absolutely dries up? Not a lick of rain in sight. The sun sets at 9 pm, and if you’re able to get an early start to the day — you can be at a river or lake by 10 am, and back home by early afternoon.
